It's time for another 10 Day Namaslay® Yoga Challenge! I love these because I love seeing you all work on your practice and take your own creative interpretation of the poses to make it your own. This yoga challenge will start on June 12, 2017 and end on International Yoga Day, which is June 21st. The goal is to unite #YBCyogis, practice various poses, and instill the Namaslay® philosophy into your life both on and off the mat.
What the heck is Namaslay®?
I'm so glad you asked. Namaslay® is my book, which is part motivational memoir and part yoga book. It contains hundreds of yoga poses broken down with excellent visuals so your alignment will be on point. It also tells the story of my battle with Lyme disease, and how I struggled with anxiety and depression, and ultimately, how I got through it all and emerged stronger and healthier than even my most healthy version of myself. You don't need to have the book in order to participate in this challenge, but it'll be really helpful if you do, so if you're on the fence, I'd order it up so you have it ready to go for day one.
Here's how it works:
1) If you'd like to order Namaslay®, do it now so you'll have it in time for the challenge. Then, save the schedule of poses you see above. Then, post on instagram, letting your friends and the YBC Community know that you're going to start the 10 day challenge with us on June 12th. Use the hashtag #YBCYogis and #NamaslayYogis so you can connect with others doing the challenge.
2) On June 12, when the challenge starts, take a picture of yourself in doing Mountain Pose, which you can find on page 106 of Namaslay®. Then, upload to instagram, tag @yogabycandace in the caption, and use the hashtag #YBCYogis and #NamaslayYogis so you can connect with others participating in the challenge. Then, click the hashtag and give a few of the participating yogis a virtual high five and see how they did the pose. This is a great way to develop your practice, find inspiration in others, and connect through social media. Then, if you have the book and want to deepen your practice, turn to pages 9, 10 and 11, which talk about the 10 Namaslay® "Commandments". Find one that speaks to you and see if you can relate it to your life, or the yoga pose you're practicing. You can consider each "commandment" as a small, inspirational reading to pair with the pose of the day to help you be the best version of yourself, and to help you live life with fearless authenticity. Repeat each day until the challenge is up.
