Hello from Ibiza! If you've been following along on instagram or Facebook, you've seen some moments from our first days here. I'll be posting more photos and a little update later today about our yoga retreat, so check back soon!
In the meantime, let's talk poses. Sphinx is a favorite of mine because it just feels really good. There's subtle lengthening going on in the spine and across the front body. It's a little mini backbend, but it's really gentle and appropriate for everyone, so I like to start with it when doing back bending flows. The key is to keep the elbows drawing in toward one another to create an upward lifting feeling in the front body, rather than sinking the weight into them and slumping down.
